The might of South Sydney plays the Bulldogs on Friday in a blockbuster encounter. The Rabbitohs will be looking to keep up their great form while the Bulldogs know they just have to keep winning to make the eight.
Our team list came out on Tuesday night with some interesting moves by Michael McGuire. We should have a strong team to compete. Luke Keary is out of the match due to suspension and John Sutton finds himself back in a familiar number in the five eighth position. Issac Luke got cleared by the judiciary tonight but still faces time on the sideline and we all know how big of a loss that will be. At least he will be back for the last two games of the season.
Kirisome Auva’a and Bryson Goodwin swap positions with Auva’a playing centre and Goodwin shifting to the wing. The biggest shock to the team is that experienced campaigner Glenn Stewart will be on the bench and Jason Clark will take his spot in the starting team. After a brilliant performance by Clark last week, it’s no wonder that Madge wants to start him.
With Issac Luke out of the team, a quality player in Paul Carter comes into the team. There is no doubt we can expect to see a player different to Luke. Carter had his debut with the Rabbits last week and he will definitely keep the Souths supporters happy. Issac is more of a dynamic, quick player out of dummy half. “Bully” likes to scoot out of the ruck and really keeps the opposition thinking. Carter has the ability to make lots of tackles and that extra size which means he could play as another forward.
It is going to be a tough game, but it is a great chance for McGuire to see how players go with them playing in different positions. The Bulldogs are not easy beats and after their convincing win last week, they will be very happy with the team they put down on paper this week.
After the severe injury to Bulldogs’ hooker Michael Lichaa last week, the Bulldogs are struggling in the hooker department. However, Damien Cook has been waiting in the wings for quite some time. Cook has been a big part of the NSW Cup team and he has proven his worth to Des.
Aiden Tolman is thankfully out of the squad which will give our forwards more of an advantage.
