South Sydney utility Cody Walker has signed a contract extension to keep him at the NRL club until at least the end of the 2018 season.

The 26-year-old was a target of rivals Brisbane but the Rabbitohs have fended off the Broncos to retain Walker.

"Souths and the local community have become home for me and my family and I'm glad to be staying here," said Walker, who has made seven appearances for the Rabbitohs this year after debuting against the Sydney Roosters in round one.
