NSW halfback Adam Reynolds is a likely starter for South Sydney in Sunday's NRL clash against North Queensland despite being unable to train with the side for the first part of the week.

The Rabbitohs No.7 has not played since injuring his shoulder the Blues' State of Origin series-deciding loss to Queensland last week, but is considered a strong chance of coming back against the Cowboys.

"He's tough and he's not daft. We'll be smart and make sure if he's playing, he's healthy. But signs are that he's looking good," teammate Sam Burgess said on Thursday.
