Adam Reynolds is expected to be fit for South Sydney's crucial NRL clash with Brisbane, despite being ruled out State of Origin III with a shoulder injury.

Reynolds departed NSW's Coffs Harbour training base on Friday to return to Redfern to undergo rehabilitation on the injury he suffered in Origin II.

The Rabbitohs halfback was ruled out of Origin III on Wednesday, with Matt Moylan drafted into the Blues squad.

Reynolds aggravated the injury in the loss to North Queensland in Cairns last week.

Souths have the bye this weekend and the club is confident he will be back on deck when they host the Broncos at ANZ Stadium on Saturday week.

The match looms as a make-or-break encounter for Souths who need to win seven of their last eight games to avoid missing the finals for the first time under coach Michael Maguire, who joined the club in 2012.

Reynolds was shattered to be excluded from the Blues side for game three in Sydney on Wednesday and is keen to get back to the NRL as soon as possible.

"It is always hard missing out on those games - Origin games are special," Reynolds said.

"It was the highlight of my career. To sit out and not take part is very disappointing.

"I want to come back and be part of the side next year. I have learnt a lot from being here.

"I am only going to grow from here and I look forward to getting another shot."
